Sopano is 34 years old, and has been working on the volcano since he was 19. He has a family of two boys to provide for, who are 10 and 12 years old. It is undoubtedly hard and dangerous work, but he and the other miners stay in good spirits and enjoy laughing and joking with one another when they take a break.
