The Glory of Varanasi

The Ganges River flows through the town of Varanasi, which is one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world. Hindus believe that bathing in the holy Ganges causes forgiveness of sin and helps attain salvation. Pilgrims travel from far and wide to Varanasi to immerse the ashes of their loved ones into India’s holiest river, sending the departed soul to heaven.
